I'm the librarian at MRH Elementary and next year our library is going to serve a dual purpose, library and writing center. Our building serves about 400 students in grades 2-6. Is there anyone out there in a similar situation? If so, how do you manage the schedule? Right now we follow a flexible schedule, but I'm not sure what that will look like with the new set up. I would appreciate any suggestions.

I see 475 students each week for library skills and checkout. Each class is 55 minutes. This really doesn't give much time for flexibility especially since I lost my assistant 4 years ago. There are some gaps in my schedule that teachers are aware of. I am open 30 minutes before school also.
That's the best I can do. We are basically on a fixed schedule.
